Se trata de una investigación documental basada en la afirmación de Marc Lalonde, ministro de sanidad canadiense, quien desde 1974, afirmó que el nivel de salud de una comunidad, está influida por cuatro grandes grupos determinantes entre los que se encuentra el medio ambiente, que influye desde cuatro aspectos fundamentales: contaminación física, química (se enfatiza en este tipo, porque es la que mayor efecto nocivo provoca), biológica, psicosocial y sociocultural. Cada aspecto se analiza desde la perspectiva de su afectación al ser humano, pero enfatizando en el sistema reproductor femenino. El objetivo es demostrar, cuán importante resulta la contaminación ambiental de todo tipo a la salud humana, en especial el sis- tema reproductor femenino. Los métodos empleados fueron teóricos de investigación documental. Se ofrecieron medidas que pueden marcar pautas en la mitigación de los efectos nocivos contaminantes, especialmente sobre la mujer, aunque son aplicables a todos los seres humanos independienmtemente de su género y edad. Se arriba a conclusiones claves emanadas de la revisión realizada.

The objective is to demonstrate how important environmental contamination of all kinds is to human health, especially the female reproductive system. The methods used were theoretical documentary research. Measures were offered that can set guidelines in the mitigation of the harmful polluting effects, especially on women, although they are applicable to all human beings regardless of their gender and age. It arrives at key conclusions emanating from the review carried out.
